If we look at all the "great games" from this year, the Switch had two games you couldn't get on any other platform, the Playstation 4 had one, the PC had one, and the XBox One had zero. What Remains of Edith Finch only got a 90+ on one platform (it got 89 on PC and 88 on PS4 - essentially noise, though), while five of the "great games" were re-releases (and thus were also available on other platforms). The purely handheld platforms got shafted this year - the Vita had ONE good exclusive, the 3DS only 7, and neither had a game above 90. The PS4 had 20 good exclusives but only 2 "great games", while the switch had only 13 good exclusives but 4 "great" ones (though two of those were re-releases). The PC had the most "good" (75+) exclusives (40!) and the second most "great games" (90 or higher metascore, at 3).

The PC had the highest average metascore of any platform, somehow. Man, looking at Metacritic's list, a few things jumped out:ġ0 unique titles got 90+ metacritic scores, which is a seemingly high number - until you dig down and realize that five of them - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Undertale, Bayonetta, Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, and Okami HD - weren't new.
